900 miles on a charge? How Toyota’s solid-state battery tech could revolutionize  EVs Story by Christian De Looper July 30, 2023 The biggest question first-time buyers have when buying an EV relates to range. “How far can I go in this thing?” It makes sense. While making it 300 miles or so isn’t bad for a modern EV, it does mean that you have to stop at a charging station more regularly than you have to fill a tank on a gas-powered car, and charging can be a little time-consuming. So what’s the fix? Either better range or faster charging — and  Toyota says  that it has cracked the code for the former. At a technical briefing in early July, Toyota announced that it has made a breakthrough in battery technology that will allow it to eventually create batteries that offer a whopping 745 miles of range on a single charge — and that it’s aiming to create a battery that would give an electric car 900 miles of range. But don’t put off that  Prius Prime  purchase...

Lamborghini Discusses Its Post-Siรกn Roadster Electrification Plans On the heels of the company’s latest limited-run creation, the Siรกn Roadster, we catch up with Lamborghini's leadership for a look into its future.  The  Lamborghini Siรกn Roadster , like its hardtop predecessor, is the sort of Lamborghini that the company describes as coming out of its "laboratory of the future"—experimenting with electrification techniques to figure out how to move the company into its next era of performance. We know some of the broad strokes of this plan, especially that the next  Aventador  will be a hybrid. But Lamborghini continues to drop hints about the specifics of its plans. Why electrification at all? For one, emissions and noise regulations are forcing the change. That's nothing new and shouldn't come as a surprise. It's clear that Lamborghini probably would not electrify its cars if regulations didn't require it. But the company is making the most of the situ...

๐Ÿ“› What Caused The Battery Fires That Grounded the Boeing 787 10 Years Ago? BY IAIN COUTTS PUBLISHED JAN 18, 2023 A combination of design issues, wrong assumptions, and inadequate testing procedures contributed to the fleet's grounding. In late 2012 Japan Airlines took delivery of another Boeing 787-800, and it entered into service shortly after. They did not know it at the time, but this aircraft would prompt a series of events leading to the FAA grounding an entire fleet of aircraft, causing significant problems for Boeing and airlines worldwide. Smoke and fire were discovered shortly after passengers and crew disembarked After landing without incident at Logan International Airport in Boston on January 7th, 2013, and just after passengers and crew had disembarked, the ground crew noticed that the auxiliary power unit (APU) had automatically shut down. When a mechanic went to investigate, smoke and fire were discovered coming from the APU. Before the airport fire...
